Children and Media

Children and media are inseparable.  The media in the past decade has exploded in India and today the children have mind boggling choices in their use of media. When we were growing up, we had very few options of being engaged in media on a constant basis. There was of course the daily newspaper and the radio that gently kept track of time as we went around doing our daily chores. By the time I was in high school we had acquired a record player and it was a rage. TV came much much later. Films were a once in 3-4 month occasion. Today children access these on a daily basis probably their daily dose equivalent to what our weekly or fortnightly exposure was!!
